The RIG Surround produces its surround effect and supports 7.1-channel audio through processing to distribute each channel appropriately to either driver, and give the overall impression of surround sound. It has a single 40mm driver for each ear, which is perfectly fine for power and clarity, but not exactly suitable for producing a 7.1-channel experience. The equalizer settings offered various tweaks in the low end, but only enough to adjust the warmth of sound effects and not produce any appreciable rumble.ĭespite the "surround" part of the RIG Surround's name, it's ultimately a stereo device like the regular Rig. Both games sounded excellent, with enough bass force to make gunshots, explosions, and in the case of Destiny, comically epic orchestral sweeps command my attention. PerformanceI played Destiny and Team Fortress 2 with the RIG Surround-though Destiny was through the PlayStation 4, and didn't support surround sound through the 3.5mm connection. The cable's just too short to play comfortably with any of them unless you keep the mixer on your lap (or strap it to your arm while you play). It should work similarly well with the Wii U gamepad's headphone jack, and with the Xbox One with Microsoft's optional wired headset adapter. The RIG Surround is designed to work with PCs, smartphones, and tablets, but it worked perfectly as a wired headset with my PlayStation 4 when I plugged it into my DualShock 4 controller. As it is, the RIG Surround doesn't technically support game consoles like the RIG did, at least out of the box. The original RIG had the same connected cables, but it was a little more flexible with sound sources thanks to an included stereo RCA adapter. This is unfortunate, since the 3.5mm connection opens up possibilities for devices not necessarily supported, and would also benefit from the option of a longer cable. Both are permanently attached to the mixer, so you can't switch out cables of different sizes. ![]() SetupThe mixer connects to your computer or compatible game console with a long USB cable, and to your smartphone or tablet through a shorter, 1.5-foot 3.5mm cable. Three small buttons below the large switch can answer and hang up from phone calls, mute the mic, and switch between three equalizer presets. ![]() A small lever on the left mixes the audio between the phone and PC, and a similar lever on the right mixes a PC's game sounds and chat sounds. A flat switch flips the mic between phone and PC connections, letting you easily jump between gaming and taking calls. The large, ridged knob itself serves as the main volume control, with an LED ring inside it showing the current volume level. The mixer is a circular plastic knob that sits on your desk and controls nearly all of the headset's functions. It feels comfortable, and can be worn easily for long periods of time. The headset is a simple pair of over-ear headphones with well-padded earpads and headband, and a flexible boom mic connected to the wire that plugs into the left earcup. ![]() It's still a two-part device with a headset that connects to a wired mixing hub, which then connects to both your computer and phone.

![]() into the defined outmost container “div#outer_cont” and the additionally introduced internally nested container “div#main_cont”,.To be able to keep up the transparency during a later responsive element reordering we need to insert such background layer (DIV) elements We firstly define DIV containers which serve us as transparent background stripes of all column elements of our fluid design. To make everything a bit more challenging we shall also show how one can add transparent background layers to each column of the original fluid layout and how we manage such transparency layers together with responsive width adaptions of the web page.Įxtending the HTML code by tags for transparency layers We shall see in this article that our achievements now allow for almost trivial measures to gain the correct aspired responsiveness: You just need to change a few “float” and “margin” properties. For small view port widths we would like to move our left sided vertical menu directly below the text area – an objective we had already defined in the first article and which will be met by the measures discussed in the present article. Important – transition to a range of significant smaller view port widths. We have, however, not yet shown how to manage a second – and more ![]() In the last article we also discussed some additional, conventional measures to make the different content column blocks appear as separate optical elements floating above a common background (picture). We have demonstrated how to handle a first responsive transition in viewport width by moving one of the columns downward and adapt our content areas in width – without loosing fluidity. What we have achieved is that by using some compensating CSS tricks we can now choose a certain – unusual, but in a responsive context required – tag order in the HTML code without destroying the optical features and the fluidity of our multi-column page layout. With a bit of abstraction the discussed recipe will in general allow for any required tag order for the DIV-containers in the code. Of course we had to compensate by more complicated CSS definitions.Īmong other things we used negative margin definitions to optically place floated elements where we needed them to be on the screen – despite an unusual tag position in the HTML code. We showed how we could re-nest and rearrange the DIV-container tags into the required code order – without changing the original optical and fluid layout. In the second article of this series we therefore discussed a special situation for which we required a specific vertical reordering of existing elements. In such a situation, however, the last tag (of the sequence of floated elements) in the code represents the element which is moved downwards in the browser’s viewport first. make use of the automatic handling of floated elements by the browser for situations when the horizontal viewport space gets too small for displaying all floated elements in just one row. Under normal circumstances you do NOT want to create major HTML block elements twice and switch them alternately on and off just to become responsive.įor getting the right vertical ordering effect you would e.g. For reasons of coding efficiency the vertical rearrangement of previously horizontally distributed containers should be achieved just by changing some CSS properties like “position”, “margin” or “float” when the view port gets smaller than some predefined values. Typically, in a responsive approach you rearrange the content columns into a vertical order instead of the original horizontal sequence, because you want to make use of a maximum of the view port width for each of the information and navigation containers. However, the natural tag order may lead to conflicts when you want to reposition the column like page elements in a fluid and additionally responsive approach to our multi-column layout. The CSS properties of the containers require no special attention – everything is straightforward. In your HTML code you would define and describe the tags of the floated container elements in just this natural sequence. Such floated content elements could be a vertical navigation column, a main information block with text and a right column with teaser text elements. You need to encapsulate floated page elements in a container. and to control the vertical heights of optical background elements for the different columns.to both use a fluid design with multiple content columns in horizontal direction and.We discussed a problem that may arise when you want to make a fluid design responsive. Attach the positive leg of the third LED with the digital-10 pin of the Arduino. Join the positive leg of the second LED with the digital-9 pin of the Arduino. Take an LED and join its positive leg with the digital-8 pin of the Arduino. Connect the remaining line on the servo connector to a digital pin on the Arduino. Connect the signal wire of the servo motor with the digital-3 pin of the Arduino. Connect the power cable that in all standards should be red to 5V on the Arduino. The darkest or even black one is usually the ground. we start the function by attaching the servo object created to pin D8 of the microcontroller, after which we center the servo, turning it to zero degrees. The servo motor has a female connector with three pins. With this done, we proceed to the void setup() function. Next, we create an object of the library, to be used as a reference for controlling our servo motor throughout the code. We start the code for the project by including the libraries that we will use which in this case is the servo.h library. The library comes pre-installed in the Arduino IDE removing the need for us to download and install. The library makes it easy to turn the servo at different angles using a single command. The code for this project is quite easy thanks to the very comprehensive and concise servo.h library developed by the Arduino team to facilitate the use of servo motors in Arduino projects. With the connection all done, we can now proceed to write the code for the project. Servo directions are sent from the microcontroller to the servo motor as PWM pulses. The signal pin was connected to the digital pin 8 of the Arduino because it is a PWM pin. Notice that there is now a new variable called potPin. Schematicsįor emphasis, the connection is further described below. The code to make the servo follow the knobs position is simpler than to make it sweep. The Signal pin is the one used to feed the control signal from the microcontroller to the servo, to get the servo rotate to a particular angle.Ĭonnect the Servo to the Arduino as shown in the schematics below. Servos are ideal for embedded electronics applications because they do one thing very well that motors cannot they can move to a position accurately. Servo motors generally have three pins/wires, this includes the VCC, GND, and the Signal pin. The schematics for this project is quite simple as we will be connecting just the servo motor to the Arduino. Servos have integrated gears and a shaft that can be precisely controlled. Servos can move to a position accurately, so they are ideal for embedded electronics applications. The connections for servo motors with Arduino are as follows: Connect the black wire on both the servo motors with the GND on the Arduino. The following components are required to build this project:Įach of these components can be bought via the link attached to them. In this tutorial you will learn how to use a single servo motor with Arduino. Servo Motor Control using Arduino and PCA9685 Driver It has a built in clock so it can drive 16 servos free running, or independently of Arduino. This is a 16-Channel 12-bit PWM and servo driver which communicates with Arduino using the I2C bus. There’s also another way of controlling servos with Arduino, and that’s using the PCA9685 servo driver. Of course, we can set any servo to move to any position, at any time.Īs an example you can also check my Arduino Ant Hexapod Robot project where I used an Arduino MEGA board to control 22 servo motors. So, we just have to create objects from the Servo class for each servo motor, and define to which Arduino pin is connected. What is a Triptych canvas?Īlso known as triptych canvas art prints, multi panel canvases are an ideal way to make the most of a large wall space. Triptychs are usually larger than standard canvas pieces as homeowners buy split panel canvas art to create a feature piece in their rooms. The way a triptych wall print is made is that the printed image is mounted across three box canvas frames rather than a single wooden frame. This creates a wonderful effect as the picture is seen to be flowing across the frames to produce an artistic piece of wall art for interior designs. Triptych art is not constrained to prints on canvas, and multi-panel wall art has been seen for hundreds of years. ![]() One of the most famous triptych paintings is by Francis Bacon, entitled ‘Triptych – August 1972’ and can be seen here in the world famous Tate Gallery in London. These days with the advent of canvas stores the triptych format has been revived and can now be seen in many homes and businesses across the world. The effect of the image flowing across the wall will depend somewhat on the spacing you make between the box canvases. At Fotoviva Art Prints we suggest spacing your split canvases between two and three inches apart. This is enough for the separation effect to show whilst not creating too much of a gap, thus dissolving the flow. The gap does depend to some extent on the image and the size of the canvases. For smaller canvases, it would be best to decrease the gap. Consequently, increase the spacing for larger canvas splits. With regards to the image style, this is hard to quantify as it becomes an individual preference, but if the picture has obvious flowing elements then you can afford to hang the canvas a little further apart if you prefer. Without image elements that do not stretch across the breaks, it would be best to keep the frames a bit closer together. The best way to determine your perfect spacing for your multi panel canvas print is by laying them out on the floor and playing around with the spacing. The title sequence features a slab serif typeface that’s reminiscent of Courier but doesn’t look so mechanical, nor is it monospaced. More importantly, the film’s title features a typeface that looks like a cross between Courier and Constructa. It’s a feel-good film that follows a 15-year-old boy as he struggles to make choices for his love and family. I’ve had my fair share of coming-of-age films in recent years, one of them being Submarine. also uses a modified version of the Bodoni type, and must be the inspiration for the movie’s typeface the only difference is that the company uses a combination of uppercase and small capitalization in their branding. This typeface has been around since the 18th century and was made by Giambattista Bodoni. Breakfast At Tiffany’s typeface is an interesting variation of the Bodoni typeface. The font used in the film accommodates the film’s theme – a young country girl-turned-socialite trying to figure her way through the bustling life in the metro – because of the sense of class it exudes. Here are four films where some interesting typefaces are used: But for graphic designers who studied, appreciated, and used vintage typefaces in their works, you’d be happy to see where, how, and who used what type during the film’s supposed era. This type of typography is more of a continuity and props issue within the film. One of the few things I’ve learned from watching films (and taking note of the typography used in them) is the use of Period Typography. After playing catch-up with films from the late 1960s onwards, I’ve seen a lot of decent, well-thought, and well-designed movie titles from these films in terms of both word choice and typeface style, and so decided to feature some of these films that glued me to my couch and featured or used noteworthy typography in their movie titles or intertitles. Well, some of them were shown in cinemas while I was a toddler. I’ve seen over a hundred films in the last two years, and most of them are some of the best I’ve watched in my life. ![]() Overall, however, Photoshop does take the crown here.
